Deep
Sea Fishing
In
the Sea of
Cortez, you can fish for 80 different varieties fish, like;
Amerjack,
Cabrila, Dorado, Grouper, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped
Marlin,
Roosterfish, Sailfish, Sierra, Snapper, Swordfish, Yellow fin,
Tuna, and
Wahoo.
The mix of water currents and water temperatures makes
for some
great fishing. Between the warmer southern Sea of Cortez and the
cooler
Midriff Area, with a low of about 62 degrees in
January-February, and a
high of about 90 degrees in July-August.
Dolphin
Watching
You can take
a cruse around the bay and you'll be sure to see them, or you
can stay
at he condominium complex named Bahia
Delfin, which translates as
Dolphin Bay. Every day a resident population of beautiful
Bottlenose
Dolphins work their way up and down the coast. You can
watch them
from your bedroom window or walk 30 feet to the beach and jump
in with
some swimming fins. The dolphins love to swim along side
swimmers. It’s
really easy to kayak into the water and paddle along
side. When the
bait fish are passing through, the action really picks
up. Diving
pelicans splash all around you as the dolphins swoop up a
morning meal. Smaller
diving birds follow quickly behind trying to pick up
leftovers. It’s
truly remarkable!
Whale
Watching
You can take
a short cruse and see a wide display of whales compared to very
few
places in the world. You can see Fin, Humpback, Blue, Sperm,
Byrde and
Orca whales. The extreme depths of the Sea of Cortez, (2 miles)
and the
underwater canyons provide abundant fish and plankton for the
whales to
feed.
The
whales
swim near the coast and it makes them easy to spot. Whale
watchers fly
from all over the world for this rare opportunity to watch this
majestic
animals up close.
Windsurfing
& Kiting
San
Carlos has "Near perfect conditions" for windsurfing or
kiting. The off shore wind, warm water and protected coves make San
Carlos a windsurfer's paradise. Bring your board or rent one
for the
day. Lessons are available. You won't find an easier place to
learn.
Sailing,
Motor-boating, Jet Skiing & ATV's
San
Carlos has it all available. Rent an ATV and go up to the by
sand
dunes. Try jet sky and go across San Carlos Bay. Rent a motor
boat or
sailboat. All these items are available right in town. Many of
the
outfitters will deliver the rentals right to you rental.




Kayaking
The
Ocean
conditions for sea kayaking are some of the best found anywhere.
Great
weather, calm water and lots to explore! Beach access is very
easy at Bahia
Delfin.
Golf
The San
Carlos County Club is the host of a championship golf
course that
is open to the public. All of the 18 holes have wonderful views
of the
Sea of Cortez, the Sonora desert and mountains.

The San
Carlos Country
Club golf course was design with Roy Dye, son of the legendary
Pete Dye.
The links on this course are challenging for all skill levels.
Horseback
Riding
The
former
Club Med resort now called Paradiso, has
stables near the beach.
You can rent by the hour or the day or take a guided tours
exploring the
desert, rocky canyons and miles of sandy beaches. Services are
available
for beginners and advanced riders.
Estuary
El Soldado
One
of the
main reasons the dolphins live year-round off this beach is the
adjacent
Estuary. Estuary El Soldado is a federally protected
wildlife
sanctuary and is considered one of most beautiful in Mexico. The
place
is teeming with wildlife. It is home of a great variety of wild
flora,
birds, fish and marine wildlife.

The
entrance
is only a short walk from Bahia
Delfin Condos. The estuary is also one of the very few
Mangrove
Oasis left. With depths of less than 8 feet, the huge estuary is
home to
thousands of birds and other animals. There are nesting colonies
of
Great Blue Herons, Egrets and Yellow Footed Gulls.
El
Delfinario (dolphin pools)
A
brand new, National Dolphin Center, El Delfinario, is
located on
the south side of San
Carlos Bay. Go swimming with dolphins and enjoy shows about
the
evolution and importance of these remarkable creatures.

The
dolphin
pool is the main attraction in the park and the most popular
with kids.
Eight dolphin and their trainers offer some exciting
performances. There
are five shows a day, the Delfinario is open daily, except
Mondays, from
9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
